Technology Requirements

Coller School of Management online students must have regular, reliable access to a computer with a stable internet connection. Our courses are delivered through Moodle, an integrated online learning management system. Students access their courses using the web browser on their PC, tablet or mobile device.

Hardware
  • Disk space: 200MB for the Moodle code, plus as much as you need to store content. 5GB is probably a realistic minimum.
  • Processor: 1GHz (min), 2GHz dual core or more recommended
  • Memory: 512MB (min), 1GB or more is recommended<

All the above requirements will vary depending on specific hardware and software combinations and the type of use and load; busy sites may well require additional resources.
Server RequirementsMinimum supported versions:

  • Moodle upgrade: Moodle 3.5 or later
  • PHP version: minimum PHP 7.2.0 Note: minimum PHP version has increased since Moodle 3.8. PHP 7.3.x and 7.4.x are supported too. See Moodle and PHP for details.
  • PHP extension mbstring is required
Database RequirementsMinimum supported versions:

  • PostgreSQL 9.6 (increased since Moodle 3.9)
  • MySQL 5.7 (increased since Moodle 3.9)
  • MariaDB 10.2.29 (increased since Moodle 3.8)
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012
  • Oracle Database 11.2
System RequirementsMoodle is compatible with any standards-compliant web browser:

Note: Moodle 3.10 does NOT support Internet Explorer 11.

Safari 7 and below has known compatibility issues with Moodle 3.10.

Tech Support

When you begin your studies in the Coller School of Management, you will be assigned a dedicated student services coordinator. They will act as a resource throughout your program, answering questions about technical support, online assignment submissions and more.

We also offer a 24/7 help desk and IT support for escalated issues.
